Recenzja książki "I'll Give You the Sun"

autorstwa Jandy Nelson

[recenzja w języku angielskim]

Lately, I have had a chance to read the book "I'll Give You the Sun" written in 2014 by the American author, Jandy Nelson. I really wanted to read this book because I’ve met many people that recommended it and the cover looked really encouraging.

"I'll Give You the Sun" is a story about twins - Noah and Jude, with completely different personalities. The girl felt underestimated by her mother, while the boy could not live up to his father's expectations but they always had each other and always have been incredibly close. They were like two elements that cannot function without each other. However, over time, the doubt, fear and jealousy caused by their parents, began to deteriorate their relationship. Now they have to deal with everything on their own. What they don’t know is that they only knew a half of a story. Will Noah and Jude be able to find their way back to each other and become the unity again?

Jandy Nelson has a specific style of writing that not everyone will like but I loved it. All the descriptions and metaphors in the text captured my heart.

This book is really fascinating. It teaches you about the important values that we follow up to and aspire to, such as accepting yourself and love. It also properly illustrates how to discover your abilities and limits or that life isn’t always perfect and how is it to be lost in the world around us. This book is really touching and memorable. It enters our mind, body and soul and stays there for a long time. If the only thing you ever really wanted was to be understood, you should read this book.
